About the Swim Team

This group is for anyone interested in swimming on a swim team, regardless of ability! From competitive swimmers, to triathletes looking to improve their swimming ability, to those who just want to swim in a friendly environment, we welcome everyone. We are open to anyone at the School of Medicine campus: PhD graduate students, medical students, School of Public Health students, post docs, or docs.

Swim with friends

The advantage to being on a swim team is that you are not alone when you swim- you work out with your friends! As a result, swimming is more fun and you have more accountability.

Learn ergonomic swimming technique

The head coach, Taylor Cottle, is a veteran competitive swimmer, lifeguard, and polo player. Practices are designed for you- we work through the summer to build stroke technique and strength with a quality over quantity practice mentality. You can learn not only how to swim, but how to swim efficiently.

Compete against yourself and others

Our team is registered with the US Masters Swimming organization giving you access to workout materials and other valuable information. We will track your times and help you guague improvement throughout our season. If you join, you can compete against other teams that are involved with Masters Swimming.

Learn a healthy habit

Swimming is a great full body exercise. It's a great exercise to learn that provides cardio, light bodyweight exercises, and is easy on the joints. With pool access becoming easier due to the increasing popularity of swimming, now is the time to join!
